The Footprints of Italian Prisoners of War is a community history project.
It began in 2015 and is now an international community project with contributions from Italian and Australian families in 16 countries.
The website operates as a ‘virtual’ museum.
Every item such as photographs, documents, letters and memoirs, are valuable relics of this history.
The service of research for individual families is now closed.
Under the menu tag Finding Nonno I have provided valuable information for families to make their own research journey. Together with the guides, the website has over 300 articles relevant to this history. These articles provide background information for the journey of the Italian soldier from Italy and recruitment to battles to prisoner of war camps and repatriation to Italy.
